Taking Down an Old Greenhouse Frame in Vaughan
An old hoop greenhouse on an open lot in Vaughan, its plastic cover torn and flapping in the wind. We took it down to the metal frame, dismantled the frame and hauled it all away.

The challenge
On an open lot in Vaughan stood an old hoop greenhouse that had seen better days. Its plastic cover was torn and flapping in the wind, and the metal frame underneath was still standing.
A greenhouse in that state is worse than none. Loose plastic blows onto neighbouring properties, the frame catches the wind, and the structure slowly turns into a hazard and an eyesore.
Our approach
Goats Landscaping takes down every outdoor structure in the same order: loose, light material first, then the structure from the top down, stacking the pieces as it comes apart so everything can be loaded in one go. Metal tubing like this can often go to a metal recycler rather than landfill.
What we did
- Stripped off what was left of the plastic cover.
- Unbolted the hoops and purlins.
- Took the frame down section by section.
- Stacked the tubing so it could be loaded in one trip.
- Hauled everything away.
